ABSTRACT

It has become evident from the foregoing that the increasing employment of women in all the advanced countries of the West has been a long-term development extending over many years, and not merely a temporary stop-gap due to the emergencies of war, or other sudden calamities. But, except for the incidental adjustments that we have discussed in the last chapter, there has been no fundamental reorganization of our society such as would make this development beneficial to all concerned.
