ABSTRACT
Thomas Ellwood, ‘Epitaph on Milton’ (1675?), from ‘Rhapsodia’, holograph manuscript, Friends' Library, London, pp.145–6. Ellwood, a founder of the Society of Friends, studied with Milton, apparently did scribal work for him from time to time, and acquired the house at Chalfont St. Giles, Bucks., in which Milton stayed during the Great Fire of 1666–7.
