ABSTRACT
A biome is a large ecosystem, extending over a wide geographic region transcending frontiers, characterised by dominant life forms and communities (biota) of interdependent organisms. The largest biome on earth is the Taiga – stretching around the world across the forests of Canada, Siberia, northern Russia and Scandinavia – a space dominated by coniferous trees coexisting with, and sustaining, fauna and flora which vary from region to region.
