ABSTRACT
Putting aside easy answers and appreciating complexity, which are at the core of the disciplines introduced in Chapter 3, requires seeing the detail of what goes on in the construction of culture everywhere. Seeing this in the familiar at home can develop a sense of the less familiar abroad. This chapter therefore demonstrates that much of what we do when approaching the culturally unfamiliar begins with the everyday task of constructing culture. It looks at this process within small culture formation within the broader domain of underlying universal cultural processes.
