ABSTRACT

Laura has been going out with Daniel for three weeks now. He is a lovely boy – blonde hair, tall and quick-witted. He also captains the school football team and is the fi rst boyfriend she has had who has made her feel really valued. They laugh a lot together. He doesn’t criticize or try to change her; just accepts – likes her – for what she is rather than what she might be. She does not consider herself to be pretty or particularly accomplished, but she is ‘comfortable in her own body’ and Daniel has a gentle way of reinforcing this. The word love has begun to enter their conversations.
