ABSTRACT

We preface this chapter by noting that it is simply not practical for most undergraduate students to conduct research with agencies of the criminal justice system, and the issues around this are discussed throughout this chapter. However, this chapter offers many lessons that are applicable to all criminological research and will also provide you with a greater depth of understanding of the practical challenges involved in much of the research you read about as a student of criminology. This will provide you with further knowledge and understanding that will allow you to develop your ability to think critically about the research you read about elsewhere in your studies.
