While the Ocean system deforms a NURBS or Polygon surface to create animated waves found on an ocean surface, the Pond system creates a 2D fluid container that emulates a smaller body of water. In addition to deformation tools available to manipulate the Fluid Effects, Maya provides a wide array of deformation techniques that you can apply to geometry. You can use these techniques, which include animatable vertices, animatable texture 176attributes, and various deformers, to create localized damage to models within your scene. At the same time, Maya provides the Effects menu, which offers a number of presets that construct complex simulations with particles, expressions, and custom shading networks. You can apply and alter the presets to create fire, fireworks, electrical arcs, and similar particle flows.
