ABSTRACT

Davanne and Jules Girard, two French scientists, did tests that they gured out that French paper companies did not use gelatin in their papers.

e invention of albumen paper as it was used in the nineteenth century is credited to Louis Desire Blanquart-Evrard, a French photographer and innovator. He was trying to improve on Talbot’s calotype process and in 1840 he found a way to make beautiful positive prints. e original recipe was simple – egg whites beaten to a froth with 25 percent by weight of a saturated salt solution which settled overnight.
