ABSTRACT

High dynamic range imaging (or HDR as it’s most commonly known) is a technique that allows you to expand the dynamic range, or the latitude of brightness, of your images beyond what can actually be captured by your camera’s sensor. The maximum dynamic range of a typical decay scene can often surpass the capabilities of a camera sensor to effectively reproduce the full gamut of luminosity of the scene. Therefore, taking more than one exposure and combining them together allows you to attain an image that spans a wider dynamic range and enables you to capture detail in the brightest highlights and darkest shadows.
