ABSTRACT
On January 28, 1986, the space shuttle Challenger took off from Cape Canaveral in Florida after many delays. Successive launches had been scrapped due to technical issues, and people at NASA were anxious to get going. But the shuttle exploded in the air only seventy-three seconds after takeoff, to the great horror of those watching on the ground and around the world. All seven astronauts on board died.
