ABSTRACT

Looking back over this book, I have come a long way in tracing the development of higher education for sustainable development. My ambition was great: to provide a comprehensive overview of what makes higher education for sustainable development a unique field of research and practice, and to offer a coherent narrative of how change can be effected in it. It has been my aspiration to bring together views on problems situated on different levels of concern that are still far too often treated separately although they are in fact closely related to each other.
