Mauritian school students – narratives from an island classroom

In this chapter we will enter, briefly, the world of a Mauritian secondary school classroom. My long connection with the island and my experience in supervising doctoral students, two of whom are head teachers or rectors of large secondary schools, has enabled me to locate and gain access to a well-regarded school that is in many ways representative of the islands some 182 secondary schools.
