ABSTRACT
This chapter will serve three purposes. First, we provide a brief overview of the main objectives and central concepts of language testing and assessment. Second, we introduce a variety of formative classroom assessment tools that we believe assist in effectively evaluating students’ progress and in providing informative feedback to scaffold their literacy development. We do this to encourage you to further explore assessment. Finally, we provide information to help you assess the difficulty level of your teaching materials.
