ABSTRACT

This chapter synthesizes a few conceptual cruxes emerging from a theoretical and empirical study on the emotional dynamics that are developed and “vented” through online communication. The research considered the online social sharing of resentment through (typically narrative) user-generated contents (UGCs). Among the various emotions and feelings shared across the Web, I focused on resentment, as a heuristic category suitable for interpreting the various aspects of some present-day social relations and of the so-called sad passions of today's society (Benasayag and Schmit 2005).
