ABSTRACT
INTRODUCTION Public sector managed care (PSMC) initiatives have been implemented widely throughout the U.S. In spite of the urgent need to refine the technology of these initiatives in order to ensure quality outcomes and cost-effectiveness, there has been strikingly little research on managed mental health care in general, and public sector managed mental health care in particular, to provide a rational database to guide service system development.
