ABSTRACT

The digital microscope is a fantastic piece of equipment, especially for young learners. Using an interactive whiteboard is more intuitive for young learners than using a mouse as they are able to physically touch the ‘buttons’ on the screen to control the microscope and make recordings. The Intel Play QX3 Computer Microscope software, when launched, will display whatever has been placed on the platform. The ability for the children to observe changes on the microscope platform and on the screen will help them to recognise the reality of the images. Setting up the microscope for a time-lapse film is a type of simple program. The children will learn how to operate equipment as they perform simple functions, both operating the microscope and using the software, and, in so doing, will find out about the uses of technology to support their learning.
