ABSTRACT

Through discussion children's attention should be drawn to the different places they have seen computers used in the world around them. Although it is not essential that numerals are read accurately for the first two activities, the success of the third and final activities relies on the children correctly identifying the amounts shown on screen. In most cases, inserting the CD into the CD drive will result in a series of on-screen menus explaining how to complete the installation. The images shown on the computer screen for both programs will resemble the objects the children will have in their role-play area but clearly not be direct representations. It is not essential that the children are able to read the amounts shown on the screen in the Going Shopping program, which is why it is desirable to follow this activity with either the Let's Go Shopping or the Playskool Store activities.
