ABSTRACT

In addition to the skills of sending and receiving e-mails and attachments, copying and pasting between applications and making use of the editing tools in a word processor, the children will have to consider the relevance of the information they send to recipients to ensure it is accessible and clear. Discussing the responses to e-mails and working together on the content and structure of the shared story writing provide motivating and meaningful contexts for reaching joint decisions. There is a heavy emphasis on writing for different purposes in this project–posing questions, the shared writing of a story, enhancing a skeleton story, writing a review. Rather than attempting to address all aspects in equal depth it is suggested that one or two are selected as a key focus and that more time and teaching input is devoted to these.
