ABSTRACT
Introduction The purpose of this part of the book is to develop some of the issues relating to initial
teacher education and the continuing professional development of teachers (CPD). In
particular, it will look at some of the recent policy initiatives that have had a major
impact on business and economics education. This chapter and the rest of Part 3 will
focus on the way these initiatives impact on individual teachers and the effect they
have on school and classroom practice.
