ABSTRACT

For example, if you ask individuals if their parents beat them or whipped them severely as children, that would force individuals to come up with memories that could answer that specific question. The main problem is that what we asked may not be something of great importance to the client at this time. It may be something of an issue for the counselor, and perhaps something on which the counselor may need to work. In fact, we believe clients will lead us directly to the appropriate information if we will allow them to guide us instead of us interfering with the process. We believe that the few questions we are required to ask may best be held until the end of the assessment.
