ABSTRACT

What about your school practice activity when you used encouraging words and actions with a particular student? How did it go? If you felt a little awkward with it, that is probably because our culture has not taught us to feel and act in those ways. So often we are relying instead on correcting, criticizing, reproving, or lecturing—sometimes, in strong, angry terms. Record on your notes page what you did and the outcome. If you actually put to use the “Encouragement Council,” record how that went. Or make note of the results if you used the encouraging words and actions recommended.
