ABSTRACT

(Groan)… “We heard too much about stereotypes like the pink and blue color line in the 1970s.” Certainly the subject of sex roles has been belabored so much that people wince at the heavy handed gag lines in situation comedies, and the constant flow of newspaper and magazine references to male/female differences. In a similar way stereotypes about Black Americans, Hispanics, and many racial, religious, national, and other groups may have been overtalked. Because professionals honestly think they know about general stereotypes, they may underestimate their real sexual implications.
