ABSTRACT

Regression has been one of the most rapidly growing fields in statistics. In fact this area has grown so enormously that there is no hope of including in a single chapter all of the important results that have emerged in recent years. Accordingly, this chapter introduces the most basic results, and describes some of the issues that have practical importance. An important feature of this chapter is that it includes some new results on the analysis of covariance as well as some heteroscedastic procedures that are not available in existing books. Readers interested in learning more about regression might consult the books by Draper and Smith (1981), Edwards (1979), and Neter and Wasserman (1974).
