ABSTRACT

The Oedipus Myth: Conflict or Mystery a person's capacity to see things as they really are. Whether due to personal blind spots, failure of an adequate paradigmatic base, or philosophical predilection, Freud did not complete the shift. To have entertained an interpersonal field would have been to embrace not-knowing, mystery; to be the real child, not the idealized parent. For the interpersonal field offers only an expansion of awareness, an enrichment of pattern, not the satisfying linear explanations of intrapsychic drive theory.
