ABSTRACT
In Let Us Now Praise Famous Men, James Agee wrote that every fury on earth has been absorbed in time.... Official acceptance is the one unmistakable symptom that salvation has been beaten again." Absorption, normalization, assimilation; the radical message sinks to the bottom of the pond and the ripples eventually die out. Here, in one individual's therapy, I called this process "domestication."
True physicians (regardless of credentialed discipline) are distinguished by an awareness that some wounds should not be allowed to heal too soon, that to heal from the bottom, these must be kept open.
