ABSTRACT

Fibromyalgia, also known as fibrositis, refers to a clinical syndrome consisting of chronic widespread muscular aches and pains, stiffness, fatigue, multi pIe trigger points (tender spots at various anatomical sites), and a characteristic sleep disturbance. Other complaints include swelling and numbness, and pain in the neck and shoulders. Headache, irritable bowel syndrome, and interstitial cystitis (urinary bladder condition) are often associated with fibromyalgia (Yunus, 1989; Buchwald & Garrity, 1994).
