ABSTRACT

It is this last question that forms the basis for concern to the managed care industry and to clinicians alike. This chapter will cite some of the relevant work being done in the field of outcome studies of brief psychotherapy groups. Each author or study is presented to highlight some basic attempt to answer some of the questions raised above. There is no intent to conduct an encyclopedic review of the literature on outcome, but rather to provide the reader with a flavor of what is of concern to all involved with short-term groups and to provide a representative sampling of interesting and important approaches to the issue of clinical outcome.
