ABSTRACT

In establishing a correct diagnosis of Adjustment Disorder, the drawing of a patient impairment profile is one of the most valuable clinical tools. The first question to ask in order to define the problem is: What has changed in the patient's behavior and become an impairment since the stressful event was experienced& On the response to this question, the mental health care practitioner can start to formulate the Adjustment Disorder diagnosis. The evidence coming from the initial assessment of impairment provides the rough stuff to determine what is the patient's condition.
