ABSTRACT

The focus in this chapter is on some of the interpersonal communication variables of hypnotic patterns, specifically the communication styles and structures of hypnotic suggestions.

COMMUNICATION STYLES

Appreciating the differences both in the information processing styles and in the abilities of the conscious and unconscious minds is prerequisite to the effective use of hypnosis. Formulating suggestions that are more likely to appeal to the unconscious mind's worldview is one of the ways hypnosis derives its strength.
