ABSTRACT

This book is not intended to sensationalize hypnosis, nor is it intended to make a statement about how hypnosis is the answer to all of life's challenges. Rather, I will introduce clinical hypnosis as a system of skilled and influential communication that teaches how words can heal. Clinical hypnosis offers ways to conceptualize how human beings construct their individual realities, and it offers insights into ways to interact more effectively with others. Acquiring hypnotic skills is one way to enhance your clinical abilities, and can help you to obtain lasting results in the therapy work you do. Perhaps best of all, the use of hypnosis can be a powerful way to promote self-sufficiency and independence in the clients you treat, helping them to be more self-assured and self-valuing.
