ABSTRACT

Metacognitive monitoring: Ease of learning, judgment of learning, judgment of knowing. For each participant, the correspondence between a child's prediction for a specific item and whether or not the item was recalled in the delayed recall trial was calculated to give a measure of accuracy of judgment. Items to which the child responded "not sure" were not included in the analyses. For the metacognitive measures we used a generalized linear model with logit link function (logistic regression). Because the outcome variable of interest is the total correct correspondence over the total number of predictions, the logit link function (log(p/( I - p» links the probability of total correspondence to the linear predictor. The accuracy of judgment in terms of proportion correct for each of the three judgments is shown in Figure 4.
