ABSTRACT

A lot of terrain has been covered and a considerable amount of data presented. Yet I know from many years in the classroom that a “data dump” can sometimes have the opposite intended effect as audiences risk losing sight of the larger argument. It is a common problem too for books seeking to take a big-picture view; after all, it is hard to remain focused on the forest when all you talk about are trees. A lot of trees were covered in the previous three chapters, so readers might be forgiven for losing sight of the food security forest. This chapter seeks to refocus discussion back onto the big picture of food security.
