ABSTRACT
This far we have been talking about arable and pasture lands in terms of aggregated areas without reflecting much about what farms and fields look like in reality. This chapter has a more detailed perspective on these matters, although it starts with the approximate number of farms around the globe. We will also discuss farm sizes and differences between large-scale farming and so-called factory-like agricultural production.
