ABSTRACT

Running is the activity that is most commonly associated with sports injury. It is likely that a variety of intrinsic and extrinsic running-related risk factors combine to produce running-related injuries. However, this process remains poorly understood. Although the long list of potential contributing factors makes prevention and management of running injury extremely challenging, optimising running technique is likely to be critical to both maximising performance and minimising injury risk. With that in mind, achieving safe and efficient running technique is the primary focus of this chapter.
