ABSTRACT

During your initial teacher education (ITE) to become a physical education teacher you consider the nature of physical education as a subject and the unique contribution that it makes to a pupil’s education. No doubt, you have already begun that process. When you teach, it is very likely that you have considered learning outcomes for a lesson that are specifi c to an activity; in turn, those outcomes contribute to the objectives of the unit of work and aims of the subject in the school. Pupil learning outcomes for specifi c activities also enhance and enrich their knowledge, skills and understanding in other settings, e.g. sports clubs.
