ABSTRACT
Assessing pupils’ learning is an integral part of teaching and learning and should not be seen as a ‘bolt-on’ process. Thus, assessment must be included in the planning and delivery of all lessons and units. This chapter includes sections on developing intended learning outcomes, establishing assessment criteria and assessing learning through teacher questioning, peer and self-assessment. The chapter builds on the concepts of planning introduced in Chapters 4 and 5.
