ABSTRACT
Social work with a difference! I am not a qualified, registered social worker, so should I be writing a chapter in this book? Oh, the identity question again. Identity is hugely important to me, as it must be to all of us. I believe that what I do is social work. It is rooted in community development and relationship-based practice and is underpinned by personal and social work values. How much more ‘social work’ can you get than that? Sadly, I believe that there isn’t always the opportunity for ‘social work’ in mainstream social work services today.
