ABSTRACT

PAUL AND TINA Married for nine years, Paul and Tina report their steadily rising level of conflict as unsustainable. Both are in their late 40s and in their second marriage, and both have recently been diagnosed with ADHD, though it manifests very differently for each of them. Paul is driven and restless-a middle manager who tends to over-function in his job and the relationship. He works hard to stay organized for himself, the household, and the relationship, feeling he cannot fully rely on his wife. For years, he has felt over-burdened and under-appreciated at home, desperately wanting Tina’s attention and affection and for her to be a more equal partner at home. His perfectionistic tendencies mean he works long hours at the office, coming home rather late several nights a week.
