ABSTRACT
Alan Moore’s 1980s comic book saga, Swamp Thing, is counted by aficionados as a cornerstone of American comic books. Only slightly less unremarkable is that the story inspired a very logical philosopher called Donald Davidson to come up with a thought experiment which he wrote up in 1987 as a paper entitled ‘Knowing one’s own mind’.
