ABSTRACT

Social work in Lebanon had a bumpy start, has improved over the years, and now faces many obstacles to achieve the necessary results. Lebanon is classified as part of the “third world,” a developing country with a dense population (about 780 inhabitants per square mile) with minimal natural resources. It is in the arid zone; less than 50 percent of its total area is suitable for agriculture. Consequently, the economy depends heavily on services, trade, and tourism.
