ABSTRACT

Alexander Wendt's work has rapidly become one of the main reference points of the theoretical debate in International Relations (IR), at least in Europe (for an early assessment, see Ringmar 1997). It is part of a recent trend in IR to acknowledge that meta-theoretical and theoretical reflections are necessarily connected. In his long-awaited book Social Theory of International Politics, Wendt consequently first develops his position in the philosophy of science and social theory, before establishing an IR theory of inter-state politics.
