ABSTRACT

Conceiving a lm’s visual design begins when you rst analyze the screenplay and start imagining your lm’s aesthetic and visual style. During preproduction the director is tremendously busy: while you develop dramatic content and logic with your actors in rehearsals, you are also working with the principal creative crew at developing the lm’s visual design. This means deciding in detail for every scene the style and look of the settings, lighting, and camerawork.
