ABSTRACT

The gallant attempt now being made in America to promote economic recovery is one which should have the whole-hearted good wishes of all nations. The depression is world-wide, and recovery also is likely to be so, though it may be earlier or more complete in some countries than in others. Will President Roosevelt succeed? I sincerely hope so, but the disease is too deep-seated for sudden cure. There will be need of patience, both on the part of the administration and on the part of the people; and there may prove to be need of measures more drastic than any yet officially contemplated.
