ABSTRACT

Much of data journalism practice is invisible to the news consumer. From filtering through large amounts of data to find interesting leads, to industrial-scale information gathering through techniques such as “scraping”; from the storage and leaking of large amounts of data using digital storage media, to having access to data about consumers of news and information services, new ethical questions are raised at each stage.
