ABSTRACT
Even though the 31 leaders I interviewed for this book came from various different cultures, backgrounds, and fi elds of endeavor, I noticed that many of them were shaped by similar experiences along their paths to leadership. These experiences often infl uenced them in the same way. Many leaders consequently shared the same perspectives about what it takes to lead others. Overall, I believe the leaders I interviewed have a lot in common.
