ABSTRACT
The question we will be addressing in this chapter is: ‘When is the right time to retrofit, refurbish or refit an existing building?’ The answer to this question will depend on a wide range of factors, such as the condition of the building, provisions in leases, the availability of funds, pressure of running costs, the accommodation needs of occupants, and sustainability drivers, to name but a few.
