ABSTRACT
In this chapter we are going to examine the standards for improving the performance of existing building fabric and discuss the most cost effective and technically proficient methods of achieving them. We will focus specifically on the European Passivhaus and EnerPHit standards, the British Association of Energy-Conscious Builders’ (AECB) CarbonLite standards and the US FSA PowerSaver Home Improvement Standards referred to in Chapter 2.4 for dwellings, as well as good practice for non-residential refurbishment.
