ABSTRACT

Energy management is a core activity for most organizations that occupy or manage buildings. It is a term that has been around for many years, and which has seen the evolution of an entire discipline, with associated qualifications and professional associations. In its 2011 guidance the Carbon Trust defines energy management as

[t]he systematic use of management and technology to improve an organization’s energy performance. It needs to be integrated, proactive, and incorporate energy procurement, energy efficiency and renewable energy to be fully effective.

Energy management is essential if you want to control costs, be fully compliant with legislation and enhance the organization’s reputation.
