ABSTRACT

Since it opened to the outside world in 1979 China has spurred the imagination of businesspeople all over the world. Much has been written and projected about China as a future market. On the other hand, many companies have burnt their fingers and suffered substantial losses in the market. One problem with China is that the amount of material written and presented is not structured in a form which can be easily used by businesspeople. This chapter is intended to furnish the businessperson with a framework of the possible pitfalls he or she may encounter in China.
