ABSTRACT
The latest research by the UN IPCC scientific panel contained in its draft report (October 2000) warns that the worst case scenario is that the average global temperature could rise by 6°C over this century as against the 1990 level. This is double the earlier prediction and 11°C higher than at the end of the last ice age. The consequences in terms of climate change of such a rise would be apocalyptic.
